Business Development Area Manager

As a Business Development Area Manager, you’ll work as a trusted and integral team member responsible for researching new business opportunities, finding new clients and keeping the current business membership engaged. This is a challenging role that will deliver great rewards to the right applicant.
This is a full-time salaried position with benefits including health, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k), short and long-term disability, paid holidays and PTO.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties are not intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification, only a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.
- Recruits new members through telephone and in-person contact; completes prospecting calls, provides membership materials, answers questions, and closes sales.
- Retains current members through regular contact, provision of specific member services and programs.
- Sells advertising & sponsorships for various Chamber outlets such as the eMagazine, events, website, relocation packets, maps, etc.
- Ensures new member and renewing member applications and invoicing are completed correctly and within time limits.
- May serve as a staff liaison to Chamber committees or groups as assigned.
- Participates in meetings and other events as assigned.
- Completes all other duties as assigned or required.
PERFORMANCE MEASURES
- Timeliness of response/processing
Number of prospect calls/visits - Number of retentions calls/visits
- Number of new members
- Member retention rate
- Cost reduction or containment within area of responsibility
- Increase in Knowledge/Skills such as social media, small business needs and overall Chamber operations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Sales, Business, Marketing or related field preferred AND three year’s B2B or service provider sales experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Knowledge
- Principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services
- Marketing strategy and tactics, sales techniques, and sales control systems
- Business and personal computers, and customer tracking and spreadsheet software applications
- Customer service standards and protocols

- Actively looking for ways to help people and provide services and programs to meet member’s needs
- Using initiative and independent judgment within established procedural guidelines

- Dealing tactfully and courteously with the public and others seeking information about the Chamber’s functions, membership, and activities
- Operating a personal computer utilizing specialized software and entering information into a computer system with speed and accuracy
- Operating a telephone for member communications
- Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with co-workers and the public
- Effective verbal and written communications; bi-lingual preferred
Physical Demands / Work Environment
- Work is performed in a standard office environment
- Constant sitting, seeing, listening, and talking is required to perform the primary duties and responsibilities
- Frequent standing and walking are required to perform the primary duties and responsibilities
- Occasional driving, climbing, bending, kneeling, and carrying and lifting objects up to 25 pounds is required to perform the primary duties and responsibilities
- Must have reliable transportation
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $42,000.00 - $52,000.00 per year

Chamber Special Events & Programs Internship
The Chandler Chamber of Commerce is looking for a Special Events and Programs intern. This internship requires 20-25 hours of on-site work per week.
The ideal candidate will have a base-level understanding of event planning and coordination and be enrolled in or graduated from an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Communications, Public Relations or a related field. Our unpaid special programs and events internship program provides an opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in event planning and logistics. The intern will work with our Program & Events Coordinator to design, plan and coordinate various events.
Duties may include:
-Understand and communicate the structure, goals and strategic mission of the Chandler Chamber of Commerce
-Assist with event planning and logistical organization including name tags, event materials gathering, set up and teardown
-Help to coordinate event registration and attendee check-in
-Responsibly communicate with event partners and participants
-Assist in drafting letters, emails, and other documents with provided content for monthly and annual events
Desired skills & qualifications:

Chamber Marketing & Graphic Design Internship
Got a passion for good design? The Chandler Chamber (AKA the 2nd largest chamber of commerce in the state) is looking for an intern to help take our visuals to new heights.
What you'll be doing
- Co-designing the Chamber’s monthly electronic magazine
- Designing Chamber print booklets, to be distributed among members
- Creating presentations & rotating ads for internal Chamber events
- Producing graphics for the Chamber’s website
- Developing social media post graphics
- Designing digital event promotional images
- Creating the overall design for print advertisements
- Making print materials for internal Chamber events (e.g. fliers, brochures)
- Designing emails
- Capturing photos at Chamber events
- Improving backlog assets to fit current 2024 guidelines
What you have
- A declared major in marketing, graphic design, illustration, or other related field
- 0-2 years professional experience in declared major
- Entry-level experience using Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, & Photoshop

Chamber Public Policy & Government Relations Internship
The Chandler Chamber of Commerce is looking for a Public Policy and Government Relations intern. This internship requires 20-25 hours of on-site work per week.
The ideal candidate will have a base-level understanding of Arizona politics and be enrolled in or graduated from an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Political Science or a related field. Our unpaid public policy and government relations internship program provides an opportunity for students to gain real-world experience with current policy issues and train under professionals with a decade of experience in the industry. The intern will work with our Vice President of Government Affairs to develop and execute our policy agenda.
Duties may include:
-Understand and communicate the structure, goals and strategic mission of the Chandler Chamber of Commerce
-Provide research and analysis support
-Learn and understand the Arizona legislative process through hands-on experience
-Collaborate on advocacy-focused events as needed
-Provide written analysis of policy-related issues to be included in monthly e-magazine
-Provide current and accurate data to Chamber leadership and general membership about business-related issues through monthly reports
-Participate in advocacy efforts at the local, state and federal level, including elected officials and various business organizations
-Provide administrative support to the public policy team, including scheduling, maintaining databases, and email correspondence
-Assist with strategic grassroots efforts to gather local, state and federal support on projects that have a regional impact

What you'll be doing
- Producing & uploading videos to TikTok, YouTube Shorts, & Instagram Reels
- Using the Chamber’s clip library to create evergreen promotional materials
- Independently capturing B-roll of Chandler, AZ
- Capturing videos at Chamber events for post-event highlights
- Assisting with Chamber member interviews
- Brainstorming campaigns
- Helping develop the Chamber’s podcast, to be hosted on YouTube & the Chamber’s website
- Using existing clips & newly-recorded footage to create introductory event speaker videos

Chamber Data & Research Internship
The Chandler Chamber of Commerce is looking for a Data and Research intern. This summer internship requires 20-25 hours of on-site work per week.
The ideal candidate will have a base-level understanding of research development tools and be enrolled in or graduated from an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Business or a related field. Our unpaid data and research internship program provides an opportunity for students to gain practical experience in basic data collection and research compilation. The intern will work with our Director of Operations to classify and account for various data points to influence our annual programming.
Duties may include
-Understand and communicate the structure, goals and strategic mission of the Chandler Chamber of Commerce
-Assist with comprehensive data collection and research compilation
-Conduct cold calls and email communications
-Learn market research and data collection techniques
-Responsibly communicate with Chamber members regarding current business demography and statistics
-Organize and enter data points into Excel or another data collection software

The Chandler Chamber of Commerce is looking for a Workforce Development intern. This summer internship requires 20-25 hours of on-site work per week.
The ideal candidate will have a base-level understanding of research development tools and be enrolled in or graduated from an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Business or a related field. Our unpaid workforce development internship program provides an opportunity for students to gain hands-on research and planning experience. The intern will work with our Vice President of Workforce Development & Government Relations to develop and implement a strategic workforce development plan.
Duties & Responsiblities
