Chandler Chamber of Commerce
Volunteer of the Month
Alan Suckerman- Waddell & Reed
Jim McMichael- Everybody Auto Buyers
Marie Brown- Bowdacious Creations
The team of volunteers recruited, trained and committed some 48 hours over three days to the Ostrich Festival! And this was above the regular shifts they volunteered for. Each recruited volunteers to be beverage servers at the festival, and also taught and attended beverage training to almost 200 volunteers.
Marie Brown of Bowdacious Creations appeared on the television news at 4:30am as the official Ostrich Festival mascot "Tutu" several times. Then she was brave (crazy?) enough to climb in the Globe of death- where a motorcycle rider rides around and above you in an enclosed structure.
Alan Suckerman and Jim McMichael were there throughout the weekend anytime somehting was needed, whether it be hanging signs, refreshing beverage washing stations, delivering water coolers throughout Tumbleweed Park. These two wore themselves out doing a lot of the "grunt" work.
As for Jim Brown..well Jim became the "go to" guy for just about whatever problem anyone threw at him. His tireless efforts to organize each shift and give guidance toeach crew helped things run smoothly.
It takes an entire village of volunteers to make the Ostrich Festival possible. This year the volunteer committee went to above and beyond the duties required.
We are not sure they will come back agian next year to work such long hours just for an embroidered Ostrich Festival shirt, but we hope so! The Chandler Chamber is fortunate, and grateful to have members like these four individuals.
